Thinking about upgrading your XC whip with a new-and-improved RockShox SID? This is your chance to own a piece of history.
In a nod to the Beijing Olympic venue, RockShox commissioned a celestial Chinese dragon graphic and sent 15 of these SID World Cup forks to its sponsored Olympic athletes. With a handful left over, the folks at SRAM have decided to sell the forks to the first 12 Olympic wannabes who send an email to SID@SRAM.com with "I WANT THAT FORK" in the subject line.
The company doesn't normally sell its Avid, RockShox, SRAM or Truvativ goods online, but it's making a special exception in this case. And this is no Bike Nashbar blowout—it's a one-time opportunity to get a custom graphic, limited-edition RockShox SID World Cup fork for the same suggested retail price of a standard World Cup—$1,075—and that includes shipping.
It's a chance for SRAM to offer something special to the masses, but also for the company to test the waters and gauge how much interest there is in special-edition graphics.
In recent years SRAM has worked with JDK Design, the pioneering marketing and design firm with a client list that includes heavy-hitter companies such as Burton snowboards, Giant bicycles, Nike and Patagonia, just to name a few. SRAM already has stepped up its game with custom Totem fork graphics designed by illustrator Pete Fowler and riders should expect more outside-the-box graphics from SRAM's Chicago brain trust.
More details on the one-time fork offer are available at SRAM.com.
